Compulsory Basic Training

It is now compulsory for all riders to do CBT training.  If you are 16 or over you can complete your CBT training on a 50cc scooter.  If you are 17 years or older you can complete your CBT on a 125cc Scooter or 125cc motorcycle.

CBT stands for Compulsory Basic Training it is NOT a test it is training.   There are five elements in the CBT syllabus.  Elements A, B, C, D & E.

  • Element A is covered in our classroom. This involves having an eyesight check, infomation on  legal requirements and safety equipment.
  • Element B is covered in our workshop. This prepares the rider on daily safety checks. The use of the stands and getting familiar with the motorcycle.
  • Elements C consists of learning to ride the motorcyle in slalom, figure 8, hazard avoidance and emergency stops and junctions  (1 hr approx)
  • Element E consists of a road ride, which include country road, B roads, A roads, towns and villages.
